Red Fort Ready For Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Anniversary; Security Tightened For First Event Since Blast
The Red Fort will host the first major religious-cultural event since the blast.

Following the recent blast near the Lal Quila (Red Fort), the historic monument is set to host a major religious-cultural event for the first time since the incident. To commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the Delhi government is organising a grand three-day Kirtan Darbar from November 23 to 25.

The event is being jointly organised by the Delhi government and the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC). Organisers expect a gathering of more than 50,000 devotees.

Security Arrangements

In light of the recent explosion and the anticipated large crowd, the Delhi Police has implemented robust, multi-layered security measures. Additional forces will be deployed throughout the Red Fort complex, the surrounding areas, and the Lal Qila metro station.

Key security measures include:

Surveillance: Deployment of drone surveillance and facial recognition cameras.

Screening: Installation of metal detectors at entry points.

Personnel: Deployment of commando units and extra police personnel.

Traffic: Potential traffic diversions on specific routes to manage the flow of attendees.

Continuous Prayer: The event will feature a continuous Akhand Path (recitation of scripture) and Kirtan (hymns) occurring day and night.

Performers: Famous Ragi Jathas (hymn-singing groups) from both India and abroad are scheduled to participate.

VVIP Guest List

Several high-profile dignitaries from across the nation are expected to attend the programme.

According to Jasmeet Singh Noni, Secretary of the DSGMC, the likely list of VVIP attendees includes:

  • President DroupadiMurmu
  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah
  • Various central ministers and senior political leaders.
