CBSE Class 12 Re-evaluation 2026: Fresh confusion has emerged over the re-evaluation results of CBSE Class 12 student Vedant Shrivastava, whose answer sheet mix-up had earlier triggered questions over the Board's new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. After Vedant claimed that his overall marks increased by only two following re-evaluation, the Ministry of Education issued a clarification, stating that his total increase was actually 11 marks.
The clarification came a few hours after Vedant posted a video on social media saying that he received one additional mark each in Mathematics and Computer Science, while there was no increase in his Physics marks after re-evaluation. The Ministry of Education subsequently termed his statement "factually incorrect" and a "blatant lie".
However, Vedant has issued an immediate clarification regarding the "blatant lie" accusation on his social media account X (formerly Twitter), stating:
"How is this a blatant lie? The 9 marks increase in physics does not happen after the opening of the re-evaluation portal, and if the answer sheet of physics was not mine, how can the marks given on that answer sheet be my marks"
Dissecting the Subject-Wise Assessment Discrepancy:
In an official statement detailing the evaluation logs, the Ministry broke down the structural changes in the candidate's scorecard. According to the government data, the total increase across the three subjects combined was 11 marks, directly contradicting the student's initial report:
Physics Theory Paper: Marks increased from 35 to 44 after re-evaluation, resulting in a nine-mark jump.
Mathematics Paper: Marks went up from 46 to 47, yielding a single-mark increase.
Computer Science Paper: Marks increased from 61 to 62, adding one final mark to the tally.
The Genesis of the Swapped Physics Answer Sheets:
Vedant's case first came to light in May after he alleged that the Physics answer sheet shared with him during the post-result process belonged to an entirely different student. Following public criticism, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) acknowledged that an inadvertent answer-sheet exchange had indeed taken place and subsequently provided him with his actual Physics answer book.
This initial administrative correction had earlier increased his overall Physics score from 65 to 74 by properly including his practical marks. However, after reviewing the correct sheet, Vedant still sought a formal re-evaluation, claiming there were persistent issues with the core evaluation.

Nationwide Updates on CBSE Verification Applications
Amidst this localized controversy, the Central Board of Secondary Education on Sunday confirmed that it has successfully declared the re-evaluation and verification results for over 99.7 per cent of total applications submitted by Class 12 students after the 2026 Board examinations.
Earlier, the Board had cleared the results for over 87 per cent of applicants. After a wait of nearly a week, CBSE has now declared the results for another 12% of the student pool, bringing much-needed relief to a large volume of anxious applicants waiting for university admissions.
