Udhampur School Holiday Tomorro: Schools and Anganwadi centres in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district will remain closed on September 7, 2026, following an Orange Alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dehradun.
The district administration ordered the closure of all government, aided and private schools up to Class 12, along with Anganwadi centres, citing intense rainfall, lightning risks and rising water levels in rivers flowing through the district.
Udham Singh Nagar Schools To Remain Closed On September 7
According to the district administration’s order, all government, semi-government and private schools operating in Udham Singh Nagar district will remain closed for one day on September 7. The holiday applies to students studying up to Class 12.
The administration has also announced a holiday for children registered at all Anganwadi centres in the district.
IMD Issues Orange Alert For Heavy Rain
The India Meteorological Department, Dehradun, issued an Orange Alert on September 6, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall at several places across Uttarakhand.
The weather department has also forecast thunderstorms and lightning in various districts. Continuous rainfall in the hilly areas has increased the water levels of rivers flowing through Udham Singh Nagar, raising concerns about the safety of students.
Strict Compliance Ordered By District Administration
The district administration has directed all tehsils and concerned departments to ensure strict compliance with the closure order.
Schools violating the order may face strict punitive action under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. The administration said the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to protect students from weather-related risks.
