According to reports from the film industry, the movie, helmed by director Om Raut, experienced a significant decline in box office earnings on Monday, June 19, primarily due to negative reviews spreading through word of mouth. Preliminary figures suggest that the film earned around Rs 20 crore in India, which is nearly Rs 50 crore less than its collection on June 18.
Adipurush made its highly anticipated debut on June 16 in various languages. However, the movie has faced criticism for its lacklustre screenplay and subpar visual effects.
Adipurush experienced a significant decline in box office earnings on June 19, based on early trade reports. The film accumulated a total of Rs 20 crore nett in all languages at the domestic box office.
Specifically, the Hindi version of the film reportedly earned Rs 10 crore in India. As a result, the overall collection for the four-day period in India now stands at Rs 241.10 crore.
Adipurush achieved a remarkable collection of Rs 69.1 crore on Sunday, June 18. However, on the following day, it suffered a significant drop of nearly Rs 50 crore due to negative feedback from viewers. As a response to the backlash, the film's creators have made adjustments to the dialogues.
Adipurush, a mythological narrative inspired by Valmiki's Ramayana, was both written and directed by Om Raut. Since its theatrical release, the film has faced scrutiny regarding its authenticity and portrayal of factual elements. Arun Govil, renowned for his portrayal of Lord Ram in the popular TV show Ramayan, referred to Adipurush as a "Hollywood cartoon."
Made with a colossal budget of Rs 500 crore, the movie stars Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. Supporting roles are played by Sunny Singh, Devdatta Nage, Vatsal Sheth, Sonal Chauhan, and Siddhant Karnick.
