Adipurush Banned In Kathmandu: The much-anticipated film Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, made its theatrical debut on June 16. However, it has been garnering negative attention in the media recently. Netizens have been voicing their disappointment, citing issues with the film's subpar visual effects and dialogues. Adding to the setbacks, the film's creators received another blow as Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah took to social media to announce an official ban on all Indian movies, including Adipurush, in Kathmandu.

In a recent development, Balen Shah issued a warning about potentially banning Indian films in Kathmandu due to an alleged misrepresentation of Sita's birthplace in Adipurush. He expressed his dissatisfaction with a dialogue in the film that states 'Janaki is a daughter of India,' as he believed that Sita was actually born in Nepal. Despite the lack of alterations made by the film's creators, Shah officially announced on Sunday that Indian films would not be released in the capital city of Nepal.

He took to social media to share a written statement in Nepali, expressing his concerns over the film Adipurush. The translated read, "Indian film Adipurush has dialogue claiming Janaki was India's daughter. This is objectionable and we had given a three-day ultimatum (to the makers) to correct it.

"There is no doubt that it is the first duty of every government, government agency, and non-governmental sector and Nepali citizens to protect the national interest by keeping Nepal and its freedom, independence and self-respect intact. If the film is shown as it is, it seems that Nepal's nationality, cultural unity and national identity will be severely damaged and irreparable damage will be done.

"Due to cultural encroachment on Nepal from that movie, this metropolitan city has attracted serious attention. If the film is allowed to be shown in other areas within the country and abroad, it will establish a misleading fact, so it is prohibited to show any Indian film in the Kathmandu metropolitan city until the objectionable parts are removed from the said film."

Taking to Twitter, he wrote, "BREAKING NEWS!! #Adipurush screening STOPPED across #Nepal... The Nepal distributors of the film have now REMOVED the movie from every theatre in Nepal, following a misleading dialogue controversy regarding Goddess Sita's birthplace... #Adipurush IS NOT SCREENING IN NEPAL NOW!

In an announcement on Sunday, writer Manoj Muntashir disclosed that he, along with director Om Raut, would be making modifications to the film's dialogues that have caused distress. In a part of his statement, he expressed their decision to revise the dialogue that has hurt sentiments, assuring the audience that the revised dialogues would be incorporated into the film during the current week. He concluded his message by extending blessings from Lord Ram to everyone.
