Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone, who welcomed her daughter Dua last year with her husband Ranveer Singh, recently opened up about navigating motherhood and dealing with mom guilt. The couple, known for their chemistry both on and off-screen, introduced their little one as Dua Padukone Singh — a name that symbolizes their prayers and love.
Since Dua’s birth in September, Deepika has taken a step back from filming to focus on her new role as a mother. While she made an appearance alongside Ranveer in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again just two months after Dua’s arrival, the actress hasn’t taken on any new projects since. Now, she’s sharing her thoughts on balancing her personal and professional life.
Speaking at the Forbes 30/50 Global Summit in Abu Dhabi, Deepika candidly discussed the challenges of returning to work while managing motherhood. She said, “I think where I'm at in my life right now is how do I manage my time as a mother, as a new mother, with getting back to work — and I'm sure there's some incredible women here who can give me some wisdom — but to be able to manage my daughter and her life and getting back to work without feeling guilt. I think that is something I'm figuring out. I won't say I am struggling with, but I'm still figuring it out.”
The actress also reflected on how becoming a mother might influence her career choices. She shared, “Yes, I think motherhood in itself has been so incredible that I'm sure somewhere, if not consciously, subconsciously it will influence the kind of movies and the roles that I choose to do moving forward. Having said that, I do believe that I've been pretty aware and conscious even before motherhood.”
Amid her reflections on motherhood, rumours are swirling about Deepika’s return to the spotlight. Reports suggest she may collaborate with Punjabi sensation Diljit Dosanjh for a special music video, choreographed by none other than Farah Khan — the director behind Deepika’s iconic Bollywood debut Om Shanti Om (2007). While nothing has been confirmed yet, fans are eager to see the beloved actress back on screen.
