Akshay Kumar Car Accident: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s security convoy was involved in a late-night road accident in Mumbai’s Juhu area, prompting police action against the driver of a Mercedes car accused of rash and negligent driving. The incident took place on Monday evening, January 20, and left two people injured, while the actor and his wife Twinkle Khanna escaped unhurt.
According to Mumbai Police, the accident occurred around 8.30-9 pm when a speeding Mercedes allegedly rammed into an auto rickshaw from behind. The impact caused the rickshaw to overturn and collide with one of the vehicles in Akshay Kumar’s convoy, an Innova used by his security team. Several vehicles were damaged in what officials described as a chain collision, and videos from the accident site later surfaced on social media.
The Mercedes driver, identified as Radheshyam Rai, has been arrested by Juhu Police. A case has been registered against him under Sections 281, 125(A), and 125(B) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deal with rash and negligent driving and endangering lives. Police also confirmed that the accused underwent a medical examination following his arrest, and further investigation into the incident is underway.

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna were travelling in a separate car ahead of the convoy at the time of the crash. Reports stated that their vehicle suffered only a minor impact and both are completely safe. The accident took place just hours after Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna returned to Mumbai from an overseas trip, where they had been celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. It is important to note that neither Akshay Kumar nor Twinkle Khanna has issued any public statement or reaction regarding the accident so far.
Meanwhile, the injured include the auto rickshaw driver and a passenger seated in the back. They were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Speaking to news agency ANI, the rickshaw driver’s brother said that the collision was severe and left the vehicle completely destroyed. He added that his brother’s condition was serious at the time of admission. No fatalities were reported, although the vehicles involved sustained heavy damage. Police officials reached the spot soon after the crash and began preliminary inquiries. Authorities are now examining CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts to establish the exact sequence of events. More details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
