Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar has continued its unstoppable run at the box office since its debut in theatres on December 5. Starring actors like Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt, the action film has entertained audiences on the big screen and achieved a historic milestone by becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year. After 27 days of its theatrical run, Ranveer starrer was re-released in theatres today, January 1, 2026, after the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India ordered changes to the existing print. As per reports, I&B Ministry asked the makers of Dhurandhar to mute the ‘Baloch’ reference in the film and release the updated version.

Dhurandhar Re-Released With Revised Version

On December 31, the film distributors received an email about Dhurandhar’s new Digital Cinema Package (DCP). As per a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, “Theatres across the country received an e-mail from the distributors today, December 31, informing them they are replacing the DCP of the film. The reason for the change is that the makers have muted two words and changed a dialogue in the film, as per the directives received from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India. The cinemas were requested to download the new content and play the revised version of the film from January 1, 2026."

The source further mentioned, “One of the words removed from the new version of Dhurandhar is ‘Baloch’." However, details about the other changes have not yet be disclosed yet.

The change comes amid the theatrical debut of another highly anticipated movie, Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda and late actor Dharmendra, which hit theatres on January 1.

Dhurandhar has already surpassed the lifetime collections of several recent blockbuster films including Jawan, Kalki 2898 AD, Stree 2, Animal and Pathaan. After 27 days, Ranveer Singh's film collection stands at Rs 730.06 crore and has already crossed the coveted Rs 1000 crore mark worldwide.

The spy thriller revolves around an Indian who sneaks into Pakistan to trace down an underworld gang. Ranveer Singh as Hamza, an Indian agent working within Lyari to dismantle extremist networks and joins Rehman Dakait, played by Akshaye Khanna, in Lyari, Pakistan. Dhurandhar also stars Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, Sara Arjun, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and others. Aditya Dhar is gearing up for Dhurandhar 2, which is scheduled for release on March 19.
