Janhvi Kapoor's old clip talking about over sexualization in movies has started making the rounds on social media amid the uproar over her portrayal as Achiyyamma in Peddi. The actor stated in an interview that she is uncomfortable being sexualized without her consent, even if sensuality on film does not bother her if she has given her consent.
Janhvi Kapoor also disclosed that she is learning to speak up when filmmakers or cinematographers shoot her from uncomfortable angles and to assert herself on movie sets. Her past remarks have drawn fresh attention as the producers of Peddi come under fire for how her character was portrayed in the sports drama.
Janhvi Kapoor said, "I think at any and every stage, it’s important to ask yourself, what did I consent to? For example, I did a song called Bheegi Saree (in Param Sundari) where I’m in a wet saree, and I’m dancing pretty sensually. The idea for that was, I wouldn’t say to titillate, but it was a sensual song."
The actress added, "I think if someone looked at that and said, I’m not attracted to this chick, I would maybe feel offended. But that’s very different from sexualising someone, especially without their consent. That, in any and every form, I’m not okay."with. And that does bother me."

Janhvi Kapoor went on to say that she has been learning to set limits on set, especially with regard to how she is filmed. Janhvi stated that she wants to be able to object without being called unprofessional if a director of photography positions the camera at an angle that makes her uncomfortable.
The Bawaal actress also discussed how industry expectations and public opinion might affect the type of work that is provided to her during the same conversation.
