Mumbai Police have filed an FIR against actor Imran Khan and others over a protest at August Kranti Maidan demanding CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation amid the SIR controversy.

As cited by IANS, Mumbai Police noted that the FIR was registered under Sections 223 (disobedience to an order), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 189(2) (unlawful assembly) 189(3) and 189(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

After being detained on Saturday, Imran Khan took to his Instagram handle and uploaded a picture of himself from inside the police van. He captioned his post, "Apparently I’m going for a drive."

After being detained on Saturday, Imran uploaded a picture of himself from inside the police van, along with the caption, "Apparently I’m going for a drive."

Imran Khan said he was driven around in a police van for nearly two hours before being released. The actor added that he had no specific demands and attended the protest as a Mumbai citizen.

He shared, "Sir, I don’t have any demands. I don’t have any status to demand anything from people. Nor am I a part of any organisation, so I don’t speak as a representative."

Imran’s girlfriend, Lekha Washington, and cousin, Zayn Marie Khan, were also detained at August Kranti Maidan. Both shared updates from the police van on social media.
