What Is Tantara About? Plot Explained

Tantara follows Min Ja, a woman whose difficult childhood pushes her to change her situation. She has taken several jobs to survive before deciding to pursue music.

As she struggles to make her name in the music industry, her childhood friend Dong Gu supports her. Later, Dong Gu joins her as they attempt to build careers in the entertainment business. Their journey is not like the glamour associated with stardom.

Their lives begin to change when they encounter Min Hui, a singer with a compelling voice who becomes their first artist. However, the professional relationship is complicated by Min Hui’s ambition and her longstanding love-hate relationship with Min Ja.

Spanning three decades, Tantara explores an entertainment business shaped by competition, hardship and the pursuit of recognition. Rather than focusing on an established star, it tries to show how people find their name in an industry where success remains uncertain.
