A permanent solution has been implemented to resolve the long-standing waterlogging issue in the villages of Manesar and NaharpurKasan. The Manesar Municipal Corporation and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) have collaborated on a project to channel wastewater to a newly constructed Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).
The Project
The core of the solution is a 25 MLD (Million Litres per Day) capacity STP, built by GMDA in IMT Sector 6 at a cost of approximately Rs 36 crore.
To connect the villages to this facility, the Municipal Corporation laid a 1,400-metre-long, 1,200 mm pipeline. This part of the project cost around Rs 2.5 crore. Notably, about 150 metres of the pipeline was installed using trenchless technology to minimise disruption.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ayush Sinha confirmed that the pipeline installation is complete, and the process of connecting the two villages to the STP began on Thursday. This connection will permanently stop wastewater from accumulating on the village streets.

Benefits And Water Reuse
The project not only solves the waterlogging problem but also promotes water conservation. The treated water from the STP will be reused for several purposes:
Green Belts: It will be used to irrigate green areas in the industrial zone, a move also requested by the industrial association.
Parks and Construction: The water can be utilised in local parks and for construction activities within the corporation's jurisdiction.
This initiative is expected to significantly reduce the demand for fresh water, aligning with the national 'Save Water' campaign.
