The first day of the new year brought severe cold conditions to Gurugram, with the city remaining overcast throughout the day. Chilly winds, accompanied by light drizzle in some areas, significantly dropped the "feels-like" temperature, forcing residents in both urban and rural areas to resort to bonfires for warmth.

Weather Conditions And Forecast

While dense fog had been observed over the past few days, New Year's Day saw only light fog; however, the sun remained hidden behind clouds all day. On Thursday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 10°C, while the maximum settled at 16°C.

According to the Meteorological Department, the severity of the cold is set to increase. The temperature in Gurugram is predicted to remain below 10°C for the next week, indicating a week of biting cold for residents.

Community Care: The DC urged people to take special care of the elderly and children, and to check on neighbors living alone.
