With the arrival of the spring season, nature is in full bloom, and this weather brings the grandest confluence of domestic and international art, culture, and traditions: the International Surajkund Handicrafts Mela. This world-famous fair begins on January 31, Saturday and will continue until February 15.
Spread across approximately 45 acres adjacent to South Delhi, the Surajkund Mela grounds will host over 1,200 artisans and performers showcasing their talents. Visitors will be captivated by exquisite handicrafts, folk arts, cultural performances, and the aroma of traditional cuisines.

Theme State And "Atmanirbhar Bharat"
This year, Uttar Pradesh and Meghalaya have been jointly designated as the Theme States. Eighty artisans, handloom weavers, and performers from both states will showcase their traditional crafts, attire, and cultural identity. Marking its 39th edition, the fair promotes the 'Vocal for Local' initiative and has been titled the Surajkund International Atmanirbhar Handicrafts Mela.
As Cultural Partners, artists and craftsmen from the eight North-Eastern states—Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Sikkim, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram—will present a vibrant display of their folk culture.
Partner Country: International Flavor
This year’s Partner Country is Egypt. Renowned for its ancient civilization, pyramids, art, architecture, and heritage, Egyptian artisans and performers will provide an international identity through traditional handicrafts and cultural showcases. With stalls from various Indian states and foreign countries, the event takes on a truly global scale.

The Badi Chaupal and Chhoti Chaupal will host daily classical music, folk dances, and cultural acts. With Rajasthan’s Behrupiyas, comedy shows, camel rides, amusement swings, and delicious multi-state cuisines, the fair is a complete family festival.
How to Reach Surajkund Mela 2026
Traveling By Road
From Delhi: You can take the route passing through Tughlakabad, then proceed to Prahladpur to reach Surajkund.
From Gurugram: The most direct path is via the Bandhwari Toll Plaza, continuing through the Mangar Cut and the Pali Crusher Zone before arriving at Surajkund.
Traveling By Metro
Commuters can get off at either the Tughlakabad or Badarpur Metro Stations. From these stations, you can easily take an auto-rickshaw or a cab to reach the mela grounds.
Bus And Shuttle Services
- Haryana Roadways has launched special bus services for visitors, with operations starting as early as 7:00 am.
- Convenient shuttle buses are available specifically from the Badkhal Metro Station to the venue.
- Additional buses run from the Ballabhgarh Bus Stand by way of NIT and Badarpur or Tughlakabad. Another route is available through Old Faridabad and the Badarpur Border.
