As many as 10 people were killed in a collision between a bus and a Bolero car on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway on Friday night. Nineteen others were injured in the accident.
All the deceased were from Korba, Chhattisgarh and were travelling to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh bath. The collision occurred when a bus from Madhya Pradesh, carrying pilgrims towards Mirzapur after the Sangam bath, collided with the Bolero.

After the accident, a traffic jam occurred at the scene. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived and made strenuous efforts, but were unable to remove the bodies. Subsequently, a gas cutter was used to extract the bodies. DCP Vivek Chandra Yadav stated that 10 people died in the collision between the Bolero and the bus and an investigation in the case was underway, as per Jagran.com.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his grief over the incident and instructed officials to ensure that the injured receive proper treatment.
“UP CM Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep condolences on the loss of lives in a road accident in Prayagraj district. He has expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased. The Chief Minister has immediately sent the injured to the hospital and directed the district administration officials to provide them with proper treatment. Along with this, he has also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured,” CM office posted on X.

The accident comes just days after a traveller bus, carrying pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh returning from the Maha Kumbh, was struck by a truck. The incident occurred in Mohla village, Sihora, Madhya Pradesh, approximately 40 km from Jabalpur.
