Jagran Correspondent, Lucknow | Lucknow police arrested a man for allegedly holding a woman hostage and raping her in a hotel for a month. An acquaintance lured an Agra woman to Chinhat, Lucknow, on the pretext of providing her with a job. Later, she introduced her to a man, who held her in a hotel for a month, raped her, and then took away her two-year-old daughter to pressure her to enter prostitution.

According to police, the accused assaulted the woman when she refused to engage in prostitution. Based on the woman's complaint, police registered a case against Anil Singh, a resident of Laulai, Chinhat, in Lucknow and sent him to jail on Wednesday.

Police recovered the child from Manpur, Sitapur. The search is on for the woman who lured the victim on the pretext of a job.

The woman stated that she works in event management. A month ago, she came to Lucknow to visit a friend. Her friend introduced her to her acquaintance, Anil Kumar Singh, a resident of Laulai, Chinhat, regarding a job.

Woman Was Held Hostage In Hotel

Singh lured her with a job at his Shiv Guest House and then took her to the Priceless Hotel. Held hostage in a hotel for a month, raped multiple times. He threatened to kill her if she resisted. After a few days, Singh began pressuring her into prostitution. When she refused, he beat her severely and even took away her two-year-old daughter. When questioned, he refused to provide any information about the child.

She somehow escaped from the hotel and went to Chinhat police station and filed a case against the accused under various sections, including rape.

Woman's Daughter Recovered From Sitapur

During the investigation, police arrested Singh. Following his information, police recovered the child safely from a woman in a village in Manpur, Sitapur. Inspector Dinesh Chandra Mishra said the child was safely recovered and handed over to her mother. The accused has been arrested, and investigations are ongoing on other fronts.

Money Dispute Angle Being Probed

During police interrogation, Singh said the woman is his acquaintance, and she had stayed with him at the hotel for a few days. "A dispute arose over money, and she left the child there and went away. When I could not find her, I handed the child over to a woman for care," he claimed. The Chinhat police is also investigating Singh's claim.
