Ajit Pawar Family Tree: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (CP) leader Ajit Anantrao Pawar died on Wednesday in a plane crash in Maharashtra’s Baramati.

As per news agency PTI, Learjet 45 operated by VSR Ventures Private Limited, crashed while attempting to land at Baramati airport. According to preliminary information, the aircraft encountered instability while landing due to dense fog, causing it to lose balance and crash-land in a nearby field. 

Ajit Pawar's Family Tree And Political Legacy

-Ajit Pawar’s immediate family includes his wife Sunetra Pawar, and two sons, Jay Pawar, a businessman, and Parth Pawar, who has entered politics. Sunetra Pawar is the daughter of former Maharashtra minister Padamsinh Bajirao Patil.

-Ajit Pawar is the son of Ashatai Pawar and Anantrao Pawar. Anantrao Pawar is the elder brother of former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and founder of NCP Sharad Pawar.

-Ajit Pawar has a brother Shrinivas Pawar and a sister Vijaya Patil. While Shrinivas is engaged in business, Vijaya was involved in the media and died in 2017.

-Govindrao Pawar, Ajit Pawar’s grandfather, played a significant role in Baramati’s cooperative movements and local administration, while his grandmother, Shardabai Pawar, dedicated herself to grassroots community initiatives in rural areas.

Ajit Pawar And Sharad Pawar Relation

-Ajit Pawar was the nephew of senior leader Sharad Pawar and cousin to Supriya Sule (Sharad Pawar’s daughter). Supriya Sule is a Member of Parliament (MP from Baramati.

Ajit Pawar initially rose through the ranks as a trusted supporter of his uncle, Sharad Pawar within the NCP. Their relationship later turned messy after Ajit broke away from the NCP in July 2023 and aligned himself with a different coalition to join the Maharashtra government, resulting in a formal split within the party.

PM Modi Extends Condolences

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of Pawar, saying the NCP leader had a strong grassroots connection.

"Shri Ajit Pawar Ji was a leader of the people, having a strong grassroots level connect. He was widely respected as a hardworking personality at the forefront of serving the people of Maharashtra. His understanding of administrative matters and passion for empowering the poor and downtrodden were also noteworthy. His untimely demise is very shocking and saddening. Condolences to his family and countless admirers. Om Shanti," PM Modi wrote on X
