Torrential rains, accompanied by flash floods and massive landslides, have brought disaster across Arunachal Pradesh in the past few days. After Wednesday's flash floods, two people remain missing while three bodies have been recovered so far.
According to reports, approximately nine districts in the state are currently reeling under floods, a weather outcome that has disrupted normal life. Many areas in the hilly regions have lost connectivity due to damaged roads and cracked bridges.
NDRF-SDRF teams engaged in rescue work
Considering the worsening situation across the state, authorities pressed NDRF and SDRF teams to initiate rescue missions. The teams are diligently conducting these operations amid debris and swollen rivers. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall for the next 24 hours, raising the possibility of further challenges in the coming days.
As per reports, the body of Saurav Kumar Kharwar, who went missing after the floods in Keyi Panyor district, was recovered on Sunday near Hawa Camp in the neighbouring Papum Pare district, raising the death toll to three.

After Wednesday's flash floods, five people had gone missing. Two people still remain missing as the search entered its fifth day.
To bolster rescue efforts, 23 additional NDRF personnel left for the affected area on Sunday. The Indian Red Cross Society is also preparing to send relief supplies via helicopter, which will depart as soon as the weather clears.
Losses so far
According to information available so far, floods and landslides have caused significant damage to the state's infrastructure. Initial estimates indicate that approximately 30 houses have been completely washed away or destroyed in the NEEPCO colony in Pusa, Keyi Panyor district. In addition, 10 houses have been destroyed and 14 partially damaged in the Possa and Pitapool areas.
A total of 128 families have been affected in the district. A relief camp has been set up at the NEEPCO campus for 60 displaced people. Ledum in East Siang district also experienced flooding on Sunday morning. The Kidi River in Basar in Leparada district is flowing above the danger mark, threatening a key bridge. A total of nine districts in the state have been affected by the disaster.
