Assam Election 2026 Schedule: The Election Commission on Sunday announced the schedule for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections 2026. The Assembly consists of 126 assembly seats, with polling to be held in a single phase on April 9, 2026.

With the announcement of the schedule, the Model Code of Conduct has come into immediate effect in the state. Key parties, including AGP, AIUDF, BJP, INC, and UPPL, are set to contest for the 2026 Assembly polls.

The current BJP Government, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, plans to contest to secure a third consecutive term and regain its position as the ruling party in Assam. At the same time, Congress attempts to retrieve its previous position as the ruling Party of Assam or the State Assembly.
