West Bengal Assembly Election 2026: Ahead of the first phase of the West Bengal assembly polls on Thursday, April 23, the Election Commission has published a supplementary list of voters included in the electoral roll after the Supreme Court-appointed appellate tribunals cleared them.

Both the inclusion and deletion lists are available on the Election Commission's official website. For polling booths where tribunal decisions are still pending, the website indicates the current status of each case upon clicking.

According to the list released on April 6, a total of 2,716,393 voters were initially under review. Now, only those whose names have been cleared and included in the supplementary list will be allowed to vote in the first phase.

SC Ordered Inclusion Of Cleared Voters In Electoral Roll

In a significant move last week, the Supreme Court ordered the inclusion of cleared voters in the electoral roll at least two days before polling, allowing them to exercise their franchise, Hindustan Times reported. This decision marked a significant relaxation of the earlier freeze on voter lists, providing relief to many individuals caught in the contentious Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

The SIR has been among the key issues dominating the election campaign in the state.

West Bengal Assembly Election 2026 Date

The West Bengal Assembly Election 2026 will be held in two phases. Voting for 152 constituencies will take place in the first phase on April 23, while for the second phase, polling will be held on April 29, covering the remaining 142 constituencies, including Kolkata. The results for all 294 seats are scheduled to be declared on May 4.
