As the LPG crisis surges day by day, a viral post on X has raised eyebrows across social media. The post featured a bill with a receipt from a Bengaluru cafe, wherein the owners charged a fee titled the "Gas Crisis Charge."

According to the post, the bill is from Theo Cafe. The customer, as per the bill, ordered two lemonades, priced at Rs 179 each. The total stood at Rs. 358.

After a 5 percent discount of Rs 17.90, the bill includes standard GST charges such as CGST (2.5 percent) and SGST (2.5 percent). However, the most intriguing part of the bill was the area where an entry titled "Gas Crisis Charge" added an extra 5 percent, amounting to Rs 17.01. The final amount payable on the bill was Rs. 374 after rounding off.

The "Gas Crisis Charge" fee comes at a time when parts of India have been going through an LPG crisis.

How Did The Netizens React?

Several users reacted to the post. While some users mocked the inclusion of LPG gas for making a mint lemonade, others asked the consumer to report this bill to the authorities for charging this amount on the final bill.

A user commented, "Lemonade banane mein kaunsa gas lagta hai" (Lemonade doesn't require gas usage). While a second said, "Nimbu garam karke daala hai kya" (Have they heated up the lemon before adding it to the lemon)?

Another wrote, "First of all, who makes lemonade on a gas stove? And this is illegal according to the Consumer Protection Act 2019. Adding extra charges for fuel shortage is an unfair trade practice. It is ok if it's voluntary in nature, but if they say it's mandatory, they should pay a penalty of up to 50000."

A fourth added, "They put gas inside the lemonade, maybe to make it fizz."

"Rather than sharing on social media, that person to complain to the restaurant to authorities to take action against such illegal charges," wrote a user.
