Bengaluru Traffic Advisory: Traffic restrictions and route diversions have been put in place in parts of east Bengaluru due to multiple religious and cultural programmes scheduled in Varthur over the next three days.

According to the Whitefield Traffic Police Station, the arrangements are in view of Sri Channarayaswamy Jatra Rathotsava, Dipotsava, Karaga and Pallakki programmes being held from January 25 to January 27, 2026. The measures aim to manage vehicle movement and ensure public safety during the events.

Bengaluru Traffic Advisory: Alternative Routes for Light Vehicles

Police have advised motorists using light vehicles to follow these diversions:

  • Vehicles travelling from Gunjur towards Whitefield should turn right near Sri Ram Temple, Gunjur, and continue via Halasahalli Road, passing through Maduranagar, Surahunase, Valepura and Varthur Government College Road.

  • Vehicles heading from Whitefield towards Gunjur can use the Immadihalli route, move through Valepura-Surahunase Road, pass Maduranagar, and proceed towards Gunjur and Varthur Police Station.

  • Light vehicles going towards Kundalahalli and Marathahalli from the Gunjur side should take Gunjur KFC Road, Panathur Railway Bridge and VIBGYOR School Road.

Bengaluru Traffic Advisory: Routes For Heavy Goods Vehicles

Special diversions have also been arranged for heavy vehicles:

  • Heavy goods vehicles from Hoskote should proceed via Hopefarm Junction and Channasandra, then move towards Sarjapur through Varthur Kodi.

  • Vehicles from Sarjapur can travel via Chikkatirupathi, Dommasandra, Kodati and Bellandur.

Bengaluru Traffic Advisory: Affected Bus Services

  • BMTC buses from Gunjur Depot-41 towards Gunjur-Varthur will operate via Hosahalli, Maduranagar, Varthur and Nerige Road.

Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and follow traffic police instructions to avoid delays.

In separate news, a 41-year-old Bengaluru-based entrepreneur has said he is planning to leave the city where he was born and raised, citing worsening traffic congestion and rising pollution. Sharing his views on Reddit, the business owner said the past year has been mentally and physically exhausting due to long traffic delays, dust and daily stress.

He wrote that running his business has become increasingly difficult and added that the city no longer offers the quality of life it once did. Expressing concern for salaried employees and taxpayers who spend hours commuting, he said relocating to a Tier 2 city now feels necessary for the well-being of his family.

The entrepreneur also mentioned that Bengaluru is now among the world’s most congested cities. He clarified that his post was not an attack on the city, but a message to authorities to address growing civic issues.

The post drew mixed reactions, with many users agreeing and sharing similar experiences.
