Jagran Correspondent, Bilauti | Asha Devi, mother of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, postponed her proposed indefinite hunger strike after her health deteriorated on Thursday. Tiwari's mother announced that she would hold an indefinite hunger strike, demanding justice in the police encounter case.
Family members said the decision to postpone the hunger strike was made due to Asha Devi's sudden deterioration in her health, and they will take a call on July 20, depending on her health.
About a week ago, Asha Devi had told reporters that if justice was not served and action was not taken against the guilty policemen in the case, she would begin an indefinite hunger strike starting July 9.
Tiwari's family members asserted that the fight for justice will continue and the next outline of the movement will be announced once Asha Devi recovers.
Judicial Inquiry Commission Intensifies Probe
On the other hand, the judicial investigation into the case of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, a resident of Bilauti village, who was allegedly killed in an encounter by the police, has intensified. On Wednesday, Jagdishpur SDPO Pankaj Kumar Mishra issued summons to six witnesses, following the Judicial Inquiry Commission's instructions. The SDPO said that of the six summoned individuals, four are residents of Bilauti village, and two are residents of Jawainia village.
Both witnesses from Jawainia are currently living in the rehabilitation township. All witnesses have been directed to appear before the Commission and present their side of the story.
What Is The Alleged Fake Encounter Case?
It is noteworthy that on June 17, Tiwari died during treatment after being shot in an alleged police encounter, creating a huge outrage in Bihar. Tiwari's family alleged that it was a fake encounter and Tiwari was killed despite the fact that he had surrendered his pistol.
Following a huge political storm triggered after the encounter, the state government constituted a Judicial Inquiry Commission under the chairmanship of Justice Vinod Kumar Sinha, a retired judge of the Patna High Court, to investigate the matter. The Commission set up its office in the DPRC building in Arrah to hear all the parties involved in the case.
