'No Evidence Of Any Firing': Police

The Patna Police on Wednesday said that vandalism and brick-throwing were carried out by some individuals at the Khan Global Studies Coaching Institute under the jurisdiction of the Kadamkuan police station.

"Through questioning of local people at the scene and review of footage from nearby CCTV cameras, it was ascertained that 15 to 20 individuals associated with Gyan Bindu Coaching Institute, Patna, had carried out the stone-pelting and vandalism," police said.

Furthermore, police have reviewed the CCTV footage and found no evidence of any firing at the scene.

Rivalry Angle Under Scanner

According to the report, a long-standing rivalry between prominent coaching institutions in Patna, Khan Classes and Gyan Bindu Coaching, erupted into violent clashes on Tuesday. The dispute quickly escalated as students and anti-social elements from both sides engaged in heavy stone-throwing.

Several rounds of shots were fired, triggering widespread panic in the area. Nearby shopkeepers and passersby fled the scene to save their lives. The rioters tore down banners of Khan Classes.

Following the incident, Patna SSP, SP and multiple police teams rushed to the spot. Kadamkuan Police Station Officer Janmejay Kumar said Khan's Sir Coaching Institute has filed a written complaint alleging that the opposing side opened fire, while Gyan Bindu Coaching accused Khan Classes of firing. An investigation is currently underway to verify these claims.

'The Main Issue Seems To Be...': Khan Sir

Following the incident, Khan Sir said, "The main issue seems to be why are we teaching for such low fees? Why are we getting such massive results?"

"We appeal to the administration to keep security concerns in mind, recognising that the poor, too, have the right to an education. When results are produced in the thousands, certain anti-social elements tend to feel threatened. They think they can suppress us," news agency ANI quoted Khan Sir as saying.

Khan Sir further claimed that the attackers completely vandalised the office and opened fire.

"The CCTV footage has been handed over to the authorities. Our security guard has also identified the perpetrators—it is the people from the nearby coaching centre. We need protection; this is a matter for the administration to handle... It is obvious to everyone that the nearby coaching institute is behind this. They have even given the statements mentioning that they will blow up Khan Sir's coaching centre," he said.

"This is a case of assault. It has been reported that the guard has sustained injuries; further action is being taken by recording his statement along with the statements of local people. Currently, the injured person is undergoing treatment," Jagran.com quoted SSP Kartikeya K Sharma as saying.
