Rabri Devi Bungalow Row: The controversy over the official bungalow of Rabri Devi, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council of Bihar, has deepened further as her elder son and president of the Janshakti Janata Dal, Tej Pratap Yadav, stepped in, slamming Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.

On Tuesday, Tej Pratap issued a note with an AI-generated photo of Samrat and Rabri, in which the chief minister is seen touching her feet.

Tej Pratap Yadav's Message For Samrat Choudhary

"I want to say that the leaders of the state, especially the chief minister and those holding senior positions, should always use restrained and dignified language. When commenting on any individual, it is essential to consider their age, honour, and social dignity. My revered mother is a subject of respect for us. Therefore, any kind of personal remark cannot be considered appropriate. In a democracy, differences of opinion may exist, but dialogue should always be courteous and respectful. Dignified language and mutual respect are the greatest hallmarks of politics. @samrat4bjp," his X post read.

Samrat Choudhary's Statement

Rabri Devi has created a political storm in the state after refusing to vacate the government bungalow, which has been allotted to State Minister Nand Kishor Ram. CM Choudhary issued a sharp statement on the issue, saying the government bungalow is not anyone's personal property. At a government function held in Sheikhpura on Tuesday, the Chief Minister targeted the opposition without naming anyone. He said the entire political focus of some leaders has been limited to protecting government accommodation, while the government's responsibility is to serve the public. The chief minister said that some people are only concerned about their own homes. He sarcastically said, "The son wants a separate house, the mother wants a separate house, and the public has been left out."

"The house will have to be vacated; there is no one who will not vacate the government house." There is democracy here, not monarchy," he asserted

What Is The Controversy?

Last year, the Building Construction Department sent a letter to former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council, Rabri Devi, to vacate her bungalow at 10 Circular Road. This letter was sent on December 15, 2025. The Building Construction Department's letter instructed her to vacate the 10 Circular Road residence within one month. The Building Construction Department's letter stated that on November 25, 2025, the department had earmarked the residence at 39 Harding Road for the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council.
