In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old woman in Chhatisgarh stabbed a constable's wife and three children, killing two of them. The woman was allegedly in a relationship with the police constable.

The incident took place on Saturday morning when the accused, identified as Sarojini Bharadwaj, reached constable Lalitesh Yadav's flat in Durg while he was away at the railway station to buy tickets for his family's journey to their native place.

According to police, Bharadwaj first got into a dispute with Reena Yadav. She then increased the television's volume to drown out their argument and picked up a knife. Afterwards, she went on to attack the woman and then turned on her children.

The Bloody Narrative

The accused first repeatedly stabbed nine-year-old Aditya in his sleep.When Bharadwaj headed on to attack her daughters Naina and Taniya, their mother, Reena Yadav, pleaded with the accused to spare her children. She grabbed Bharadwaj's legs and asked her daughter to run. One of the daughters hid in the bathroom, while the other escaped from the house and alerted neighbours.

Following this, the neighbours rushed to the flat. They then found Bharadwaj standing with a blood-stained knife in her hand.She was overpowered, the weapon was taken away from her, and she was handed over to the police.Yadav, along with her children, was rushed to the hospital. However, the mother and her son were declared dead. The two daughters remained under treatment, with one in a critical condition.Initial investigation revealed that Bharadwaj and Lalitesh Yadav were in a relationship.

She had visited his house on Friday, when he had managed to send her away. But the scene turned into a bloodbath in his absence on Saturday.Bhilai CSP Satyaprakash Tiwari asserted that a case of murder and attempted murder has been registered. The accused has been arrested, and police are now probing the exact motive, the nature of her relationship with the constable, and whether the attack was pre-planned.

Separate Incidents

In a separate case, three unidentified assailants barged into the house of a local Congress leader in the Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh on Friday (April 24, 2026) and opened fire, killing his son and leaving another son injured, said a senior police officer.

In another incident, a 58-year-old man allegedly beheaded his wife at a village in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district and then roamed around carrying the severed head, police said on Thursday.The incident occurred on Wednesday evening in Bundeli village under the Rajgamar police outpost limits.
