Amid Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Northeast visit, Congress leader Pawan Khera on Saturday suggested him to visit the violence-hit Manipur. Khera, in a post on X, took a jibe at the prime minister by alleging that while the poll-bound states are his priority, PM Modi should also visit Manipur. He further asserted that the Congress has even booked a flight ticket for the prime minister between Guwahati and Imphal. The Congress leader reminded that hundreds of people have lost their lives in Manipur due to the clash between two communities since 2023.
In his sarcastic post, Khera suggested that Manipur should not be "abandoned", adding that the state has been hit with fresh violence in the past few days. "We understand that poll-bound states are always your top priority. But Manipur should not be abandoned. The state has been burning since 2023 - and it is burning again," Khera stated.
While sharing the screenshot of the flight ticket, the Congress leader stated that PM Modi should visit Manipur as the state is just "one hour" away. "You are already in Assam today. Manipur is just an hour away. Please go there as well. The presence of the Prime Minister can go a long way in reassuring our people in Manipur. To make it easier for you, we have even booked your flight from Guwahati to Imphal - you just have to get on the plane," Khera added.
"As I do not have your number, I am sharing your flight ticket here. Kindly use it and show that the “PM CARES”," he further stated. Earlier on February 10, the state government ordered a five-day suspension of internet and mobile data services in Ukhrul District after miscreants set fire to several houses in villages around Litan.
The officials stated that the decision was taken as a precaution to prevent the spread of provocative content on social media that could worsen the law-and-order situation.
