Delhi-Ghaziabad Travel: Lakhs of motorists travelling on the elevated road, considered the lifeline of Ghaziabad city, will soon get a major relief. Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has approved a plan to build two new slip roads (ramps) at a cost of around Rs 90 crore to eliminate the problem of climbing and descending the elevated road, jagran.com reported.
Once the project is completed, more than five lakh people in Ghaziabad, Indirapuram and Vasundhara will be relieved from traffic jams and will also save time and fuel.
According to the GDA, two modern ramps, 590 and 620 metre long, will be constructed for the elevated road. The project will include a 7.5-metre-wide carriageway, while two modern roundabouts, each 50 metre in diameter, will also be developed.
Construction To Be Done Using State-Of-The-Art Girder Technology
The ramps will be constructed using state-of-the-art girder technology and have a design speed of 40 to 50 kilometre per hour. Currently, drivers travelling to and from Delhi have to take a long detour via Khoda and CISF Road to get on and off the elevated road.
During peak hours, traffic jams become severe. This impacts office commuters, school buses, ambulances, and emergency services the most. Drivers are often stuck in traffic jams for hours, wasting both time and fuel.
Ramps To Be Built At THESE Places
Ramp-1: A slip road has been constructed at Vasundhara for those coming from Delhi towards Vasundhara, which will go to Sahibabad via Vaishali.
Meanwhile, Ramp-2 will be constructed near the Kanawani Temple in Indirapuram, connecting the Green Belt Pushta Road to the slip road and then onto the elevated road to reach Delhi. Under the project, drivers traveling to Delhi will have to take Ramp-2 from the Green Belt Pushta Road adjacent to the Kanawani Temple.
Meanwhile, a slip road will be constructed from Ramp 1, which descends near the Kanavani Temple when coming from Delhi. According to officials, the construction of the slip road will shift more than 40 per cent of vehicles onto it.
“The construction of the slip road on the elevated road should be completed within a year to provide relief to the public as soon as possible. This will also reduce the increasing traffic pressure in the future,” said Alok Ranjan, Chief Engineer, GDA
