Delhi News: Amid the worsened air quality, the Delhi government has mandated Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates for the commuters in the national capital. It is mandatory for the commuters to get the certificate under Indian motor vehicle rules to ensure emissions stay within limits. A PUC certificate shows that the vehicle's emissions are as per the guidelines of the government, and driving without it can attract penalties and challans. Apart from this, the petrol pumps have also been instructed to check the certificate before providing fuel. The commuters are also required to renew the certificate to avoid fines and stay compliant with the pollution laws in the national capital.
How To Get PUC Certificate?
- Search for an authorised PUC centre through official portals
- Visit the centre with your registration details
- An emission test will be conducted at the centre using appropriate equipment
- A PUC certificate is provided if emissions are within limits
- The certificate is valid for 6 to 12 months
While the test is conducted at the authorised centres, the commuters can check their status or download the certificate online when it is uploaded to the VAHAN portal. The commuters can check their status by entering their registration number and save their details. The charge for a PUC test in the national capital ranges from Rs 60 to Rs 100, and it can be conducted at the centre approved by the government.
The government has advised the commuters to carry the certificate to avoid any inconveniences. It further stated that the PUC certificate will help in keeping the pollution in check, as vehicular emissions are one of the major reasons behind the tragic situation. The weather department has stated that the air quality is likely to improve in the upcoming weeks, providing major relief to the residents.
