Delhi Metro Update: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRCL) has begun the construction work on the 12.377-kilometer-long Indralok-Indraprastha corridor of the Magenta Line. Once completed, the corridor between Botanical Garden and Indralok will become the longest stretch of the Delhi metro by surpassing the Pink Line. The 89-kilometer-long Magenta Line will have a total of 65 stations, including 40 underground stations. The corridor will also become the corridor with the most underground and interchange stations.

What Are Special Features?

- The Indralok-Indraprastha corridor will be completely underground

- A total of 10 underground metro stations will be built along this corridor, including Indralok, Daya Basti, Sarai Rohilla, Ajmal Khan Park, Jhandewalan Temple, Nabi Karim, New Delhi, Delhi Gate, Delhi Secretariat-IG Stadium, and Indraprastha

- This corridor will improve the capital's connectivity by connecting to seven major lines of the Delhi Metro network

- Apart from this, an interchange facility will be available with the Red Line and Green Line at Indralok station, the Magenta Line at Nabi Karim, the Yellow Line and Airport Express (Orange Line) at New Delhi station, the Violet Line at Delhi Gate, and the Blue Line at Indraprastha station

Metro Line To Connect Key Regions 

This new metro corridor will connect several key sites of the national capital, including Sarai Rohilla Railway Station, New Delhi Railway Station, Delhi Secretariat, Jhandewalan Temple, Arun Jaitley Stadium, Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Delhi Gate, Kartavya Path, India Gate, National War Memorial, and Central Vista to the metro network.

As per the reports, the new corridor will significantly benefit government employees, students, business owners, tourists, and daily commuters. Apart from this, travel facilities to Karol Bagh, Deshbandhu Gupta Road, educational institutions, and major commercial areas will also become more convenient.

Earlier on Thursday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated construction work at the proposed Sarai Rohilla Metro Station on the Inderlok-Indraprastha corridor. While talking to the reporters, she stated that the Delhi Metro is the foundation of a developed Delhi.
