Delhi Metro Update: DMRC To Boost Airport, East-West Connectivity With 3 New Corridors By 2026 | Key Details

Delhi-NCR's metro is expected to see a big addition with three new corridors slated to open by the end of this year. The three new lines are Krishna Park Extension-Deepali Chowk, Majlis Park-RK Ashram Marg - both sections of the Magenta line extension, and a part of the Golden Line linking Aerocity and Tughlakabad. Combined, they will add about 36 kilometres to Delhi-NCR's metro network.

Three phase IV corridors-Pink line (Majlis Park-Maujpur), Magenta line (Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg) and Golden line (Aerocity-Tughlakabad)-had received sanction from the Union Cabinet on March 7, 2019. Two more phase IV corridors-Golden line (Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block) and Inderlok-Indraprastha-were approved on March 13, 2024. The Indraprastha-Inderlok corridor has been merged into the Magenta line corridor.

Although the three phase IV corridors had been sanctioned by the centre several years back, work got delayed because of pending clearances from the past Delhi government and the COVID-19 pandemic. Now the work is going on in full swing.

The Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg section between Janakpuri West and Krishna Park Extension, part of phase IVcorridors, opened in January 2025. And Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Magenta line section between Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park and part of the Pink line, Majlis Park-Maujpur Babarpur on March 8, 2026.

The two other portions of the Magenta line - Krishna Park Extension to Deepali Chowk and Majlis Park to RK Ashram Marg- are expected to be completed by the end of the year. The project will boost connectivity between West Delhi and the central part of the city and between East Delhi and central Delhi.

The Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor of the Golden Line is also nearing completion and is expected to open by the end of the year. The new metro corridor is expected to be a convenient link from the south of Delhi and Faridabad to the airport.
