Delhi-NCR Air Pollution: As residents of Delhi-NCR continue to struggle with worsening air quality, the Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram has issued an advisory for all offices to implement a work-from-home (WFH) system, directing them to operate at 50 per cent strength, with the remaining staff working from home. The administration also staggered the timings of all government and municipal offices to ease peak-hour congestion.

This measure, effective from Monday, December 22, follows the invocation of Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) by the Commission of Air Quality Management (CAQM) in the Delhi-NCR region.

“Accordingly, all Private Institutions and Corporate Offices in District Gurugram are advised to encourage employees to work from home w.e.f. 22.12.2025 until further orders,” the X post read.

Gurugram DC Issues Work From Home Advisory For Offices

In an advisory issued on Sunday, Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar asked all private offices to implement a work-from-home model. The Gurugram DC also directed businesses to operate at 50 per cent strength, with the remaining staff working from home until the air quality shows significant improvement.

Gurugram DC Staggers Office Timings

In response to the deteriorating air quality in the region, Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar announced a change in timings for all public offices, including state government departments and municipal bodies, to reduce traffic and ease peak-hour congestion.

These timings are effective from today, December 22, 2025, and will remain in place during Stage-IV of GRAP, the advisory read.

According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) Sameer app, Gurugram on Monday recorded an air quality index (AQI) of 325, falling under the ‘very poor’ category. The highest pollution levels were observed at the Sector-51 station, which recorded an AQI of 337. The national capital recorded an AQI of 366 at 8 AM on Monday, December 22.
