Delhi-NCR Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a change in weather conditions in Delhi-NCR from May 28 amid the influence of a western disturbance. Before that, Delhi will not get relief from the scorching conditions. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for heatwave until May 27. On Monday, with the maximum temperature likely to hover around 44 degrees Celsius.
Temperature Expected To Drop By Up To 8 Degrees
Light rain is forecast for three days starting May 28, which could cause the maximum temperature to drop by 7-8 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, heatwave was recorded in parts of the national capital. Delhi's maximum temperature was recorded at 43.6 degrees Celsius, 3.4 degrees above normal.
The minimum temperature was 28.7 degrees Celsius, 2.0 degrees above normal. The humidity ranged from 52 to 16 per cent. Ridge and Ayanagar were the hottest areas in the capital, with a maximum temperature of 44.6 degrees Celsius.
Sunday Night Was The Hottest Of Season
Delhi recorded its warmest night for the month of May in nearly 14 years on Sunday as the minimum temperature settled at 32.4 degrees Celsius, 5.7 degrees above the season's normal. The last time the minimum temperature was higher in this month was on May 26, 2012, when it was recorded at 32.5 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD.
The city had witnessed similar conditions earlier this month as the minimum temperature stood at 31.9 degrees Celsius on May 21 this year, the IMD data showed.
According to the IMD, the minimum temperature recorded at Palam was 30.5 degrees Celsius, 3.4 degrees above normal,Lodi Road 30 degrees Celsius, 5 degrees above normal, Ridge 30.6 degrees Celsius, 4.4 degrees above normal, and Ayanagar 32 degrees Celsius, 5.3 degrees above normal.
