In the Delhi NCR region, the weather saw a drastic shift on Saturday evening as heavy rain accompanied by dust storm and winds affected various areas. The downpour has provided some much-needed relief from the sweltering heat.
Strong winds were also reported from different parts of the capital, along with showers, particularly in East Delhi, South Delhi and parts of Noida, where strong dust-laden winds blew across localities before the skies opened up. This resulted in reduced visibility in parts, with commuters also expected to slow down due to changing road conditions.

In Haryana, both Sonipat and Gurugram experienced wind and rain. However, the residents of Sonipat had been battling with intense heat all morning, and by noon, according to reports, the skies took on a cloudy hue. However, a dust storm with rain soon followed across Sonipat roads, which hampered the visibility in quite some parts.

In the next 2 hours, strong thunderstorms/dust storms with gusty winds up to 100 kmph, hail and light rain are expected in the districts of Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
The weather forecast also predicted thunderstorms on both Saturday and Sunday, with a yellow alert issued for these days. On Saturday, the minimum temperature was forecast to hover around 23 degrees Celsius, and the maximum at around 35 degrees Celsius.
Although the rain brought much relief to citizens across the NCR region, commuters may still have to be wary of the changed road conditions in terms of being slippery, of poor visibility and traffic snarls.

This sudden rainfall is extremely beneficial to the citizens and provides huge relief after the unprecedented pre-monsoon heatwave that saw maximum temperatures rising above the average. This will come as a relief for farmers and residents of the NCR.
