Delhi-NCR Rain:The residents of Delhi-NCR witnessed rainfall in the early hours of Wednesday, providing much needed relief from the scorching heat. Along with the rain, the capital city also experienced dust storm and lightning, bringing the temperature down by two to three degree Celsius. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi, along with other nearby cities are set to witness more rain throughout the day. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines to avoid any inconveniences.
The rainfall is expected to provide relief to the residents as the weather department had announced a yellow alert for heatwave for the next few days. The maximum temperature was expected to remain at 41 degrees Celsius; however, it is likely to hover around 38 degrees Celsius due to the rain. Along with Delhi, other nearby cities, including Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad are also set to get relief.
As per the IMD, the weather has changed due to a cyclonic circulation prevailing over Pakistan and adjoining regions of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab. The rainfall is likely to provide a temporary relief; however, the temperature is expected to surge after May 5.
The IMD stated that light rain and showers accompanied by thunder and lightning are expected at least till May 2. The residents of Delhi and other nearby cities are also likely to witness strong surface winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 60 kmph. Along with providing relief from the heat, the change in weather is also likely to improve the air quality in the city.

The continuous rainfall is likely to cause waterlogging in several regions, leading to inconveniences to the commuters. Along with the northern states, several southern states, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Kerala, are also set to witness rainfall in the upcoming days.
