Delhi Weather: After overnight rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds, Delhi-NCR woke up to a cool and refreshing Saturday morning. The showers, which continued for the second straight night in parts of the region, brought temperatures down noticeably and gave residents much-needed relief from the intense heat of the past few days.
Although the southwest monsoon has not yet reached the national capital, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that pre-monsoon activity is likely to persist. A yellow alert has been issued for Saturday, with forecasts of rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across Delhi and adjoining NCR areas.
Weather experts attribute the ongoing spell of rain to a western disturbance influencing the northern hill states. The system is expected to trigger rainfall across parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi, keeping weather conditions pleasant through the day.
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall in most parts of Delhi-NCR, while a few isolated areas may experience heavier showers accompanied by stronger thunderstorm activity. Several parts of the capital received rain and gusty winds late Friday night, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures by Saturday morning.

According to the weather department, Delhi’s maximum temperature is likely to settle around 37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to remain near 23 degrees Celsius. Authorities have also issued a rain-related advisory in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
Residents have been advised to exercise caution during thunderstorms and strong winds. The IMD has urged people to avoid standing under trees, near electric poles, or in waterlogged areas. Traffic movement may also be affected in some parts of the city due to rainfall.
