Questions Over Structure, Materials After Newly Constructed Building Collapses

The collapse of the newly constructed five-storey building has raised serious questions about its structural integrity and the quality of the construction materials used.

Speaking to Jagran.com, a municipal official stated that this is the first such incident where a building has collapsed just months after completion without any major construction work underway. According to reports, the building's structural work was completed three to four months ago, with only finishing work being carried out at the time of the incident.

Eyewitnesses stated that the building collapsed following sudden ground subsidence. From this perspective, there could be only two reasons for the collapse: structural defects or the use of substandard materials.

Following the incident, local residents have raised deep suspicions over structural defects and the use of substandard construction materials, demanding strict action against those responsible.

Local Residents Allege Municipal Corporation's Negligence

According to local residents, the building was open on two sides. Balconies were also built on both sides. While the exact cause of the collapse will only be known after the investigation, residents allege that the Municipal Corporation’s negligence and a disregard for building construction regulations are already clearly evident.
