The Indian Meteorological Department predicted light rain in the national capital today, offering some respite from severe heat. Despite the rain prediction, the maximum temperature will be somewhere between 39 and 40 degrees Celsius. Delhi's minimum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 28.8 degrees Celsius.

Delhiites may witness partially cloudy skies, light showers, and moderate to heavy winds (40 to 60 kmph) throughout Sunday. Air Quality Index of Delhi on Sunday at 9:30 AM was 140, which is categorised under the ‘moderate’ category.

Air quality of the other regions of NCR falls under ‘Satisfactory’ to ‘Moderate’ categories and is expected to remain on the same lines in the upcoming days. 

Heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and storms have been predicted across the country by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and on Sunday, many parts of the country may also witness winds moving at 80-90 kmph and a high chance of heavy rainfall.

A heavy rainfall alert has been issued in 23 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Sikkim, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Delhi.
