Uttarakhand: To promote rural tourism in Uttarakhand, two rural tourism villages will now be selected in every district. These will be selected by a task force committee headed by the District Magistrate. Infrastructure facilities will be developed in these villages with the cooperation of the Tourism Department, jagran.com reported.

Tourism Secretary Dhiraj Garbyal reviewed the preparations for promoting rural tourism at the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board office on Thursday. He said that a District Task Force Committee should be formed in every district.

Departments like Rural Development, AYUSH, Horticulture, Agriculture, Aromatic Plant Centre, Panchayat Raj, Training and Employment should be included in this. These committees will select two rural tourism villages of their district and provide the proposal to the department.

The Tourism Secretary was directed to connect Kasar Devi in Almora, Madkot in Pithoragarh, Pyora in Nainital, Lakhamandal in Dehradun with wellness tourism, community and adventure tourism in Leeti of Bageshwar and Ghes of Chamoli, Jakhol of Uttarkashi, Saur of Tehri and all the villages of Rudraprayag with adventure tourism.

He said that the selected villages will be developed as model tourism villages with the cooperation of all departments.

Preparations For Nanda Devi Raj Jat Also Reviewed

The Tourism Secretary also reviewed preparations for the Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra. He directed all departments to complete preparations in a timely manner to ensure a successful, smooth, and community-based conduct of the Yatra.

He said that all rest stops along the pilgrimage route should be streamlined and medical facilities should be developed. He also directed that infrastructure work be completed on time.
