In August, a Faridabad man was killed after being hit by a speeding car while returning home from a temple. His son has now accused the local police of sluggish investigation, as no arrests have been made so far in the hit-and-run case,
On the night of August 27 at around 8:35 pm, Laxmi Narayan Jhanwar was struck by a speeding car in Faridabad.
An FIR that was filed in Surajkund police station stated that Jhanwar was hit while he was on his way home from a temple. The incident happened just 100 metres from his residence. The driver, who is still not arrested, had fled the scene. An FIR was registered after his daughter filed a complaint, as per an NDTV report.
As per the late man’s son Amit, CCTV footage from the area clearly identified the car being driven at high speed. As per the son, his father had no time to make a move and safe his life.
The family has called for a detailed probe into the incident, maintaining that a comprehensive investigation is essential to securing justice for their father. They have also raised concerns over whether the offences currently mentioned in the FIR reflect the circumstances, and have asked police to consider adding further charges.
Amit has asked Faridabad police to establish who else was travelling in the car when the incident occurred. He pointed to the city's network of nearly 25,000 smart cameras, saying the footage could assist investigators in identifying the occupants, the report added.

He has further sought scrutiny of the driver's identity to know whether the driver was using a mobile phone while driving and whether he was under the influence of alcohol.
According to police, Brijesh, who lives in Mewala Maharajpur, was summoned for questioning on September 3 in connection with the case. Investigators have not made any arrests so far. The vehicle involved has been taken into police custody, while officials continue to examine CCTV.
