A Gujarat man ended his life after accidentally shooting his wife with his licensed revolver at their home in Ahmedabad. The couple had been married for about two months and were living with the husband’s mother.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Jayesh Brahmbhatt said that, based on initial inquiries and the mother’s statement, the shooting appears to have been accidental. Both bodies have been sent for postmortem to confirm the exact circumstances of the incident. The man was a nephew of a Member of Parliament’

According to ACP Brahmbhatt, the husband took his own life in the presence of his mother and medical personnel.

The tragic events unfolded on Wednesday night after the couple had returned from a social function. The building’s security guard mentioned that the couple appeared to be in normal spirits as they entered the building and went directly to their flat. At approximately 11:45 pm, while they were in their bedroom, a bullet accidentally discharged from the man’s revolver, striking his wife in the neck. He immediately contacted his mother, who was in another room, and called for an ambulance.

A close family said that the husband had been checking his revolver when it unexpectedly fired. Once his wife was declared dead by ambulance staff, overwhelmed by the shock, the husband took his own life with the same weapon.
