At least four major accidents were reported in Gurugram on Monday amid dense fog across the Delhi-NCR, which sharply reduced visibility and caused widespread traffic disruptions. Police said no fatalities were reported, but the poor conditions led to long traffic snarls and slow movement on key roads.

All Four Accidents Occurred In Gurugram On Monday (December 15):

1. Southern Peripheral Road (SPR)

The first accident took place around 7 am on the Southern Peripheral Road when Rajesh Kumar, travelling from Sector 102 towards the airport, collided with another car.

“I could barely see beyond a few metres. By the time I noticed the vehicle ahead, it was too late to brake,” Kumar said.

2. Golf Course Extension Road

The second incident occurred on Golf Course Extension Road, where Shveta Kaul, travelling from Sector 86, was rear-ended by a cab.

“I didn’t step out of the car. The fog was extremely dense and vehicles were crawling past. I was afraid someone might hit me if I stood on the road,” she said.

3. Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway

The third accident was reported on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, where a truck rammed into a stationary vehicle. No injuries were reported.

4. Ambience Mall Hayabusa Bike Accident

In another incident near Ambience Mall, a man sustained severe injuries after his motorcycle collided with a cab that was changing lanes on the foggy Delhi-Gurugram highway. The accident was captured on the dashcam of a biker riding behind.

The rider of a Suzuki Hayabusa crashed into a Maruti Suzuki Dzire that suddenly took a left turn. Despite wearing a helmet, he hit his head on the car and was thrown off the motorcycle, rolling nearly 100 feet before coming to a stop. He was hospitalised, and there was no immediate statement from the police.

Thick Smog Leads To Major Incidents And Casualties

Dense smog caused severe traffic congestion across key routes in Gurugram, including the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, Dwarka Expressway, Golf Course Road and Sohna Road, with commuters facing delays of up to an hour.

Traffic police said visibility dropped below 50 metres at several stretches, prompting the deployment of personnel at major junctions such as Signature Tower, IFFCO Chowk, Cyber City, Rajiv Chowk and Shankar Chowk. Patrolling teams were asked to closely monitor high-speed corridors and ensure vehicles maintained safe distances.
