State Bureau, Shimla: Heavy rain continued intermittently across most parts of Himachal Pradesh, including Shimla, on Wednesday. The Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in various parts of the state till July 28.
On July 23, heavy rain is expected in 10 districts, except Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti. Isolated areas of Chamba, Kangra, Sirmaur, Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Solan, and Una are also expected to see rain from July 24 to 26.
66 Dead In Rain-Related Incidents, Over 100 Roads Closed
Torrential rains continue to wreak havoc across the state, leaving nearly 100 roads closed due to landslides and debris flows. Since the start of the monsoon season, 66 people have died in rain-related incidents.
The Meteorological Department and the State Disaster Management Authority have issued advisories, urging residents and tourists to avoid rivers, streams, ravines, and landslide-prone areas, and to travel only when necessary.
Cloudburst In Bog Valley
Two days after a cloudburst struck Boh Valley in the Shahpur subdivision of Kangra district, residents continue to search for jewellery and other belongings swept away in the flood. The maize crop has been destroyed, roads are closed, and culverts have been washed away, leaving several villages cut off. Meanwhile, a fresh landslide occurred in Gadghoon on Wednesday.
Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa visited the flood-affected Boh Valley and met the affected families. The administration has arranged accomodation for 160 people at the Government Senior Secondary School in Boh.
Horticulture and Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi also spoke with affected families via video call and expressed condolences.
Damage In Mioli Village
Meanwhile, in Mioli village (Niangal Panchayat), 15 houses are at risk after a nearby drain changed course, which has already damaged the homes and courtyards of four families.
