Indian Railways' investigation into the recent train fire incidents has found that "anti-social elements" were linked to several cases. Railways on Wednesday emphasised its continued commitment to passenger safety, adding that efforts were made to sabotage in most of the cases.

As per the Railways, "very serious" and "detailed investigation" is being carried out by the Railway Protection Force in recent incidents that took place in Amarpura and Kota in Rajasthan, Sasaram in Bihar and Howrah in West Bengal.

Railways said, "Passengers are requested to remain alert and stay safe.” It added, “If any suspicious activity is noticed, immediately call Railway Helpline - 139."

What Did The Investigation Suggest?

According to Railways, there was a deliberate attempt to set linen (bedding material) on fire in the Amarpura case. Meanwhile, in Bengal’s Howrah, investigators recovered cloth soaked in petrol from the bathroom of a coach.

The Rajdhani Express incident in Kota, blaze was noticed from the bathroom of a coach. Meanwhile, an unidentified person deliberately threw a burning object inside an empty coach in Bihar’s Sasaram.

Sasaram Train Fire

A fire broke out in a coach of the Patna Fast Passenger Train at Sasaram railway station in Bihar on Monday. The Sasaram-Patna fast passenger train's coach caught fire while it was at the Sasaram railway station's Platform 6 shortly before it was scheduled to depart. The fire created panic among the passengers on the platform, though no casualties were reported.

Rajdhani Express Fire

A fire broke out in two coaches of the Nizamuddin bound Rajdhani Express (12431) on Sunday morning leading to widespread panic. The incident occurred between Alot and Vikramgarh railway stations in Madhya Pradesh.

The incident ocurred when Thiruvananthapuram-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express departed from Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam.  The train departed from Ratlam Junction at 3.45am, heading toward Kota Junction in Rajasthan. Around 5:30 am, a fire broke out in coach B-1 of the train between Luni and Vikramgarh. The guard immediately alerted the loco pilot, following which the train was immediately stopped.
