Indore Murder Case: Piyush Dhamnotiya, accused of murdering his girlfriend, an MBA student in Indore's Dwarkapuri area, allegedly searched for and watched YouTube videos on "how to summon spirits" after the crime, telling the police that he wanted to communicate with the woman's 'aatma' (spirit). Following the crime, the accused travelled to Panvel near Mumbai, where he lit incense sticks as part of what he claimed were attempts to contact her spirit.
Dhamnotiya had brutally killed the 24-year-old student, whose body was found naked and in a decomposed condition last week. Dhamnotiya was arrested and sent to a 3-day police remand.
According to police sources, cited by NDTV, the man sexually assaulted the victim by forcing himself on her. When she resisted and refused to indulge, Dhamnotiya tied her hands and feet with ropes present in the apartment and blindfolded her. He told her that he wanted to present her with a "gift."
The situation took a turn when she tried to fight back once more. He allegedly gagged her by forcing cloth into her mouth, sat on her, pressing down on her chest and choked her. He then stabbed her with a knife with such force that the blade snapped.

Rather than leaving the scene, he stayed in the room for some time. As per the police, he went out to buy beer from a nearby liquor store, returned, and drank in the same room where her body lay. During questioning, the man confessed to sexually assaulting the body. He later changed his clothes and left the scene of crime. The body was recovered after residents alerted the police about a foul smell emanating from the locked house.

"Piyush Dhamanotia, the accused in the Uncle Gali murder, was arrested in Mumbai and is currently in police remand. He had been in a relationship with a woman, but her family wasn't ready for the marriage, which was causing a dispute. He went to her home to resolve the matter, and they had a physical relationship. An argument ensued, leading to the woman's strangulation,” said As per Indore DCP Krishnalal Chandni, as quoted by NDTV.
“When police arrived in Panvel, they found a place where he had attempted to perform black magic. It appeared he had become mentally disturbed after the incident and was trying to communicate with the woman's spirit. In his statement, the man stated that his girlfriend had been talking with someone else via an app, which led to the incident. The main reasons for this included pressure from marriage, and later issues with the woman because she was also talking to other people, making the accused insecure. After the murder, he consumed alcohol and sat with the corpse for some time. The accused also stated that he had sex in the same apartment. There were several pieces of rope there, which suggested that the woman's hands and feet had been tied, he added.

When Did The Woman Go Missing?
The woman was a first-year MBA student at a city's private institute on Sanwer Road. On Tuesday, she went with her father to get her birth certificate corrected. In the evening, she told the family that she was going to attend a birthday party with a classmate, Piyush Dhanotia, adding that she would return by 11 pm.
However, she never returned. On the same night, the purported objectionable video was posted on the WhatsApp group. The management deleted it and informed her father the next day.
