Indore Shocker: In a shocking child marriage case from Indore’s Rangwasa area, a 13-year-old girl asked to marry 42-year-old man by her own grandfather under family pressure and a bizarre marriage arrangement. Following the revelation, Rau police registered an FIR against 13 people, including the groom, his family members, and the girl’s grandparents, according to a report by Naidunia.
District Program Officer for the Women and Child Development Department, Rajneesh Sinha, said the entire incident occurred due to pressure from relationships and conditions within the family.
Upon receiving information about this child marriage scheduled for April 25, a team from the Women and Child Development Department counseled both families and stopped the marriage. The families also promised not to proceed with the marriage. Afterward, Anganwadi workers and supervisors kept an eye on the girl.

The girl's mother submitted an application to the Women and Child Development Department and the Child Welfare Committee, informing them of the matter. Based on the information, Flying Squad in-charge Mahendra Pathak was instructed to take action. Pathak explained that the matter was being conducted secretly, but the girl's brother's wife stated that she would return to her in-laws' home only if her sister-in-law, the minor girl, had become her uncle's wife.
After this, the family began to put constant pressure on the girl. It is reported that the grandmother also forced the minor to go to her in-laws' house and severely beat her when she resisted.
Girl Taken From Indore To Ujjain
In her statement, the girl stated that her in-laws, from Dayakheda village in Sanwer tehsil, misled the administration and took her and her 19-year-old brother from Indore to Ujjain at night. There, they were dressed as bride and groom outside the temple and were married at the Chintamani Ganesh Temple.
After the marriage, the family of Dayakheda left the minor girl and the young man back in Rangwasa, while both the grooms returned to their homes without the bride. After the marriage was annulled, the girl and her mother kept telling Pathak over the phone that they would not stay in Rangwasa. They did not inform him about the marriage. Later, when the grandmother beat her, the girl's mother filed a written complaint with the department, after which the entire matter came to light.
On the instructions of the Child Welfare Committee, Mahendra Pathak, the flying squad in-charge of the Women and Child Development Department, collected documents and contacted ADCP Women's Crime Sandhya Rai and Rau Police Station in-charge RS Rathore. Pathak said that after the girl's father's death, her mother remarried.
Fake Marksheets Prepared
After the mother's marriage, the three children are living with their grandparents. They even prepared fake mark sheets to arrange the marriages of their grandson and granddaughter. The Education Department is investigating the matter. After the investigation report is received, charges will be filed against both families for forging government documents. Action will also be taken under sections of the Indian Penal Code for kidnapping the minor daughter from her home.
