The rape and murder accused in South Delhi's Kailash Hills case has been sent to a four-day police custody. The police sought the custody to reconstruct the sequence of events, verify digital and forensic evidence, and establish the full motive behind the crime.
Rahul Meena, accused of raping and killing the daughter of an IRS officer, was arrested in Delhi's Dwarka. According to a report by news agency ANI, citing sources, the accused has shown no visible remorse during interrogation. Instead, he remained calm and composed.
Accuses denies plan to murder, says it just happened
Rahul allegedly told the police that he had gone to the house to take money. When asked about the incident, he repeatedly claimed that "it just happened."
ANI report also stated that the accused has allegedly told the police, "If Didi had given the money, this would not have happened".
Rahul told the police that the family treated him very well and paid him a salary of Rs 20,000, along with bonuses. He utilised this trust by falsely claiming that "aunty ne bulaya tha for money" (Aunty had called me).
Rahul knew about smart key card to unlock main door
According to a report by Hindustan Times, the house has a strong security system, with a digital lock on the main door. The door could only be opened using a smart card. The couple used to lock the door from outside and take a card with them while leaving.
They used to hide one card outside the house for domestic help to enter without disturbing their daughter. Meena, who was a domestic help earlier, knew about the card.
"They would keep one smart key outside the main door for help, and they all knew where," the officer said, adding that Meena was aware of the couple's routine and the placement of the key.
Accuses raped unconscious victim
ANI report, based on sources, suggests that the victim was studying in her room when the accused entered and demanded money. Upon her refusal, an argument broke out.
Meena allegedly warned her not to raise an alarm before launching a violent assault. The accused first attempted to strangulate the victim, after which she fell unconscious.
The police suspect that it was at this stage that he raped the victim and then struck her three times with a heavy object, leading to fatal injuries. Blood traces were found in multiple areas of the house, indicating the intensity of the assault, sources said.
Meena dragged the victim's hand to use fingerprints for unlocking a digital lock. However, the attempt failed. Meena then took a screwdriver to open the lock and steal cash and valuables before leaving the house.
