J-K Enounter: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday informed that an encounter broke out between the security forces and terrorists in Billawar regions of Kathua district. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), IGP Jammu stated that the operation was conducted in the forests of Kamadh Nullah. The operation was conducted after a terrorist was reportedly sighted by locals at Kamad Nallah under the Billawar police station area.
"SOG Kathua has engaged terrorists in the forest of Kamadh Nullah, Kathua," IGP Jammu informed in a post on X (formerly Twitter). The same terrorist was also spotted at Dhannu Parole in the early hours of Wednesday, reported PTI, citing sources. The officials asserted that reinforcements have been rushed to the village to neutralise the terrorists, reported the news agency.

“At around 4 pm, one terrorist was sighted by locals at Kamad Nullah under the Billawar police station area, triggering a search operation. He could be the same terrorist who was also spotted this morning at Dhannu Parole,” an official was uoted as saying by PTI.
Earlier, an official of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Special Operations Group (SOG) was killed in an encounter in Udhampur district. Amjad Pathan, the deceased, was a resident of Mendhar in Poonch district. The IGP Jammu had stated that the search operation was launched based on intelligence received by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

In a separate news, the Counter Intelligence wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police detained 22 suspects on Wednesday following raids at multiple locations across the valley, PTI reported, citing officials. The officials stated that the operation was part of an investigation into a cyber terror case involving the use of mule accounts.
