A 35-year-old man from Jharkhand was arrested for impersonating a senior civil servant for nearly seven years. The accused, Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Kukhi, came under scrutiny on January 2 when he visited the Hussainabad police station regarding a land dispute.
According to the NDTV report, he introduced himself as a 2014-batch Odisha cadre IAS officer and a Chief Accounts Officer (CAO) in Bhubaneswar, Kumar also claimed to have served in Dehradun, Hyderabad, and Bhubaneswar, and identified himself as an officer of the Indian Posts and Telecommunications Accounts and Finance Service (IPTAS).

Fake Credentials And Elaborate Deception
Suspicions arose during the interaction, prompting the station house officer to carry out a preliminary investigation. It was revealed that Kumar was not employed in any government service. During questioning, he admitted he had appeared for the UPSC exam four times but failed.
To impress his father and appear successful, he had been posing as a top civil servant. Kumar reportedly traveled with a Hyundai Era car bearing a fake nameplate marked 'Government of India' (number plate JH01Z-4884) and carried a forged Chanakya IAS Academy ID card.
Legal Action And Judicial Custody

Kumar was arrested following his confession. S Mohammad Yaqoob, SDPO of Hussainabad, confirmed that he has been booked under multiple sections of the law and remanded to judicial custody. Officials stated that the arrest concluded a long-standing deception that had allowed Kumar to pose as a senior government officer for years.
