Congress MP from Alappuzha and party general secretary, KC Venugopal, on Sunday called the five guarantees provided to the Kerala citizens sacrosanct and said that 'Indira Guarantees' are becoming the biggest voting issue across Keralam.

In a post on X, Venugopal said, "Indira Guarantees are fast becoming the biggest voting issue across Keralam!"

Listing the five demands, he assured that they would be fulfilled as in Karnataka and Telangana. He said, "These guarantees are sacrosanct, and just as we did in Karnataka and Telangana, we will fulfil them in Keralam as soon as we come to power!"

He also shared visuals of his participation in a door-to-door distribution of guarantee cards in Aluva.

What are Congress's Five Indira Guarantees?

The five promises, named 'Indira Guarantees', were unveiled by senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi in early March. The guarantees target youth, women and senior citizens.

Here are the five demands:

Free bus travel for women: The Congress has promised to provide free bus travel for all women on all the Kerala State Roadways Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses.

Health insurance coverage for all families: Congress has named the promise after former Kerala CM and party leader Ooman Chandy, vowing to provide free treatment of up to Rs 25 lakh to all Kerala families.

Financial assistance to college girls: The grand old party has promised a monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000 to all the college-going girls in the state if elected to power.

Welfare pensions to be increased: The Congress party, heading the UDF alliance, has announced to increase the welfare pensions to Rs 3,000.

Interest-free loans for youth: To push the young entrepreneurs, the Congress has promised to provide a loan of up to Rs 5 lakh without any interest to start their business.
